Hi, I’m Chaitanya.
Whether it’s developing innovative products and services or facilitating organizational change, I strive to use design as a slight nudge in a context-appropriate direction through the application of design research, systems thinking, and a sustainability mindset.
Ethos of My Process
Design Research
I follow the philosophy of seeing, thinking, and doing. I have experience leading mixed method studies that combine quantitative and qualitative data collection methods such as ethnographic observations, interviews, surveys, cultural probes, sensory cue kits, and more. These methods help me ‘see’ and explore the needs of stakeholders in the context through analysis and synthesis.
Systems Thinking
To address complex, wicked problems requires looking at the bigger picture and moving away from decontextualized framing of problems. Thinking in systems necessitates judging the right boundaries for a system, looking at problems from multiple perspectives, exploration of interconnections and interactions between system actors, and leveraging the right levers of the system.
Sustainability Mindset
People, planet, and prosperity. Sustainability comes with a lot of connotations today but for me, it is a mindset for longevity (whether it relates to an individual, a community, an organization, a brand, or a species). Designing for sustainability is to design realistic, economically scalable solutions for diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and the environment.
